Welcome to Guild of Freemen Lodge website
If you live, work or visit London and think you may like to join a Masonic Lodge, why not consider us at the home of British Freemasonry, Freemasons’ Hall in Great Queen Street ?
We welcome new members to a friendly and very active Lodge. The Guild of Freemen Lodge is unique as it is the only Craft Lodge that, as a pre-requisite for new members, requires that they are a Freeman of the City of London. Unless one is a Freeman of the City of London, one is unable to become a member of the Guild of Freemen Lodge No. 3525 but suitable candidates will of course be assisted to become a Freeman.
Becoming a Freeman of the City of London has been a privilege to and eagerly sought, to attain that most grand of titles as "A Freeman of the City of London" which goes as far back when William the Conqueror granted the good citizens of London a Charter.
When the Guild of Freemen Lodge was consecrated in 1911, Membership was restricted to Members of the Guild of Freemen of the City of London. This has since been relaxed and the requirement today is to be a Freeman of the City of London but a number of Guild members are also Members of our Lodge and we are actively working towards rebuilding those close links, and are extending these further afield to other City of London Associations.
Today the Guild of Freemen Lodge has built a reputation for our excellent work both in and outside of the Lodge. Our dedication to Freemasonry and our commitment to the ongoing success of the Guild of Freemen Lodge has ensured that the Lodge remains with us today.
We welcome decent and trustworthy men who want to become Freemasons and be part of a worldwide fraternity who enjoy each other’s company. It is open to all those 21 years of age and over, however men over the age of 18 years may be considered under certain circumstances.
The beauty of how Freemasonry works is you only need to commit what you want or can, in time and effort. Tasks and roles are never forced upon you, Freemasonry will never ask you to place family, work or important interests ahead of what you want to get out of Freemasonry and how you can help Freemasonry in return.
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations and under the United Grand Lodge of England, there are over a quarter of a million Freemasons. There are approximately six million Freemasons Worldwide.
We meet just four times a year, on the third Tuesday in January, fourth Tuesday in April and September and the first Tuesday in November. These repeat every year so you can book your diaries years in advance.
You will always receive a warm and friendly welcome here at Guild of Freemen Lodge. Please be assured that one`s position or standing in life are not at all important to Freemasons or Freemasonry. Neither are religious choices, colour, or creed. At Guild of Freemen Lodge all suitable men are truly welcome.
Anyone who is considering joining or knowing more is always welcome to join us for an informal evening meal and interested parties, their partners and other friend and family members will be most welcome to attend.
